Changing Seasons July 2017

It’s July – summer time here in the Northern Hemisphere. Judging by what I read, or more precisely what I don’t read on WordPress, I’m no different from other bloggers who are otherwise engaged. That means I’m not posting or commenting as frequently as I usually do. But it’s raining today, so I’m going to take this opportunity to contribute to the Changing Seasons blog challenge for July. Mostly, this […]

Share Your World – July 17, 2017

What is your favorite cheese? Wensleydale. I’ve never eaten it, and I doubt I ever will unless I can find an emporium that carries goodies from the UK. But I love it anyway, because of Wallace and Gromit. I first learned of the variety of English cheese from Nick Park’s A Grand Day Out, a wonderfully sweet and funny Claymation. Wallace and Gromit are out of cheese so they build […]

A Trifle for One-Liner Wednesday

‘Nugatory’ is a word. ***   ***   *** No, it’s not a phone typo. It’s not even a MS Word typo, which I expected when I misspelled ‘negatory.’ Is it a useless word? In a word, yes. Or no, since it merits an entry in the Oxford Dictionary: Origin Early 17th century: from Latin nugatorius, from nugari ‘to trifle’, from nugae ‘jests’.   ***   ***   *** You […]

Behind the Curve

I read a piece by Rosie the other night, and a rabbit hole appeared. She wrote I am just old enough to have been pervaded with and forever infected by hippiedom – with that far out philosophy, with those general interests, with that taste for eccentric, narrow-hipped, wild-haired men – but not quite old enough to have really been a part of it. Also, not American. That would have helped. There were so many cool […]

Share Your World – July 3, 2017

Time to catch up with my chums here on WP – what better way than by participating in Cee’s Share Your World! For your main meal do you prefer sweet and sour, hot and spicy, spicy and sweet, bitter, salty, bland or other? Spicy, because we don’t do salty in this house. Reiner has elevated blood pressure. As do I, so it happens. I know this because, YAY! We found a […]

Don’t Put Anything Near The 2 Windows

When we were at Florence’s last week, I didn’t take pictures of the interior. Another time, perhaps. However, I did see some rustic outbuildings that caught my eye. She gave me a very short tour of the grounds. Unfortunately the black flies descended and drove her indoors. Now that means I not only would like permission to document the original dining and living rooms, I need to get the answer […]
